Step 7: A fully capped frame of honey ready to be harvested. Note how few bees are bothering the beekeeper. Step 8: Close up of sealed honey ready to harvest. A product of good beekeeping. Step 9: All honey is removed until the first frame showing eggs or brood cells is reached.
Step 10: The first frame the beekeeper reached is now replaced. This is the last frame the bees were working. Refer to step 5. This is placed adjacent to the brood chamber, so that the bees can continue working on this frame first. Step 11: New empty frames are replaced in order working from the last frame as in step 10. Once all have been replaced except for last 5 the smoke hole can be pushed closed. Step 12: Closing the last frame. As the frames form a close cover over the top it maybe necessary to spread the other frames apart. Place the side closest to the beekeeper in first and then press the other raised side down slowly. A hive tool can be used (as in picture) to ease in the frame.
